How come there is no power kite forum?

Mon Feb 27, 2006 4:25 pm

I am probably unique in I like to fly kites no matter which type.I like to fly stunt kites when the wind is right and foils when the wind is strong enough. So I get the best of both worlds. Why is'nt there a power kite forum on the site, maybe put it up for a vote or something too see if there is enough interest.

www.seka.org.uk/forum/ is mainly powerkites. There's already plenty of PK forums around.

That was entirely the point. There were at least two large PK forums when we started, and only GWTW in the USA, and NOTHING dedicated to sticky kites. Sorry, but I have no intention of introducing a PK section in this forum.

Ever try flying sticky kites whilst all around you are power kites? I guess we are afraid we'll get overwhelmed just like we do on the field. Sticky kites need hemispheres, power kites need corridors (runways?).

Also try www.ipka.info for the powerkite squad in Ireland......they are an odd but decent crew.

I like that explanation - never thought of it like that.

I do this quite a bit at SEKA get togethers you get a fair mix of kites, though mainly traction as Roy said. Generally the guys flying traction do tend to launch then clutter off so I fly at the set-out area and it's not too much of a problem. A lot of them fly Revs anyway, but oddly there's only a couple of us who fly two line sport kites for some reason.

All right I can see why now!I'm not mad about the flexiforums but that seka one is great.

Why can't we all just get along?

This is a huge improvement. Look at previous threads to see last year's attitude!

What? You mean power kiters and stunt kiters talking, sharing, laughing and loving???

By damn - it just might work!

Well, ok, maybe not loving.....

You'll be surprised how many power kiters are lurking on here - just that we also like sticky things!!
as to the various groups talking - it is beginning to happen, just a bit!!
