Sail/Wing tensioners

Sun Jul 28, 2013 10:59 pm

This is a very noob question - something I should have asked a while ago

But when packing down the kite- do you unhook the elastic/line from the wingtip every time?

No - who can be arsed with that ?

Especially not if its a bleeding Benson - you'll just bruise your thumbs again tensioning the leading edge

:D

Great to hear! I've left them in on my other kite cos I forgot every time- now that I've got a SF it seemed awfully difficult trying to remove them - glad I don't really have to

I remember that the tensioning on the LE of my Mini Gem was so tight that my eyeballs used to bleed getting it off and on....

Mmmmmm

I don't have a problem with my SF. Once the stand-offs are out it's not really difficult.

I don't like leaving them under tension all the time. It is likely to promote stretching.

a long time ago I bought an old VW camper - it had one of these rolling around under the drivers seat:

the camper has long since decayed, but I still have the hook tool in my kite bits box - very useful

I find a lace tensioning tool used on ice skate boots very useful for this job

Thanks Vee! I've actually ordered a pack of different sizes (2-8mm); few quid via amazon. Allows me to see which size works best for which kite :D

It should be on every kite.Secure.Kite shops sells a quality rubber endcaps.Choose only them. They not so expensive.Don`t be fooled by some imitations. It is very important piece of the proper trick kite.
