Superfly - dream kite.....

Sun Jun 02, 2013 8:52 pm

My gast has never been so flabbered.......
The Benson SF is just astounding....
As a novice tricker I cannot do the full control, or cleanly yet, but I didn't think that I would pull off a JL so easily.
How it sits in that deep turtle is gobsmacking.....it just locks in and stays there! I even had a turtle rise.......WTF?
Very forgiving in the cock ups, but it just turns into a complicated trick rather than bomb out.........my cock ups look fancy and deliberate!.....LOL!
On the ground recoveries are so easy as well......apart from the dreaded nose down facing.....not recovered those....ever. Did the walk of shame a few times today.....bugga!
The SF is so light I cannot imagine a UL version.....it would just float around like a feather?
Anyway - had the 'Benson grin' today....still got it.....:)

I've been sitting on the "nothing interesting to buy" fence for a while now...

But on the weekend I got a chance to fly lasapcheong's Superfly for a little while.

Three words... "I WANT ONE!"

Thanks for the loan, Darryl. Next time you need to come to my beach, the wind is so much better there ;)

Thanks Kevin, you're welcome :)

I have grown the love the Superfly very much now that it has been changed to the updated bridle. Before, I was feeling pretty frustrated with the kite a well.

It is definitely worth putting money down for one..as long as you put your head in the "freestyle frame of mind", it rewards - greatly :)

Darryl,

Interested in what the revised bridle is. Is that the bridle fitted to the Benson SFs or is it someone's own development?

This might represent a slight improvement but IMHO - the kite is awesome just as it ships from Tim.

We have an expression in sailing that it is the 'dick on the stick' that makes the difference.

Not sure what the kiting equivalent is but I recognise my limitations as a flier. I have moments of great elation with the SF and then it brings be back down to earth again, although having said that I've not spent more than about 45 minutes on it in any decent wind.

Also recognise that any benefits of this bridle tweak (and it probably is only a minor tweak) will be lost if the inputs are not right.

Hi

Small question ?
I have just made this bridle ?

But a small question when using the knots on the pigtail on the reverse leg.... is the inner not for high wind or is it for low wind ?

I have made them like this.
5cm ------ 4 cm ----- 3 cm ---------- the knot for flying line... is this correct ?

Hmmm have been way from duallines to long time :?
Best Regards
Thomas

Dunno dude ... try it out all ways and report back.

Personally .. I don't see the need to mess with the standard bridle ... I like it just fine as it *is*.
