Starting again

Mon Aug 16, 2010 1:49 pm

Since I have trashed my Transfer, I have been thinking about bhuilding up a kite bag again. So far I have found a gemini which was the first ever serious kite I owned, and therefore have to have one. I'd like a transfer so either get mine repaired or find a used one somewhere. I'd like a third so that i hbave some choice and also something less precious maybe as a large proportion of what little skill I had has long since departed. So this third kite probably wont be pride and joy, just something to hack around with on the beach.....(and could be easy to repair)

I had made up a shortlist based upon availability and price, but there might be something else to consider maybe?

HQ Jam session or maybe even a Tramontana - I always wanted one in the early days, possibly somehting to do with the heritage
Prism E3 - have flown one for a few hours and clicked reasonably well with it
Flexifoil Pulsar - because there is one on the bay at the moment. Had a dot matrix once and it was manic, but fun.
Benson DS - bit expensive as a hackers kite, but one for the future maybe

I really would appreciate any comments. FWIW I only got as far as managing axels (full / half and cascade), flic flac, 540, and the occasional 2 rungs of a jacobs ladder (which is what I am trying to master).

I don't think the Pulsar will be like the dot at all. But anyone who has any definitive knowledge feel free to correct me.

High tide about 5:30 pm but I wouldn't fancy the forecast 14-15mph winds :-(

Vee / Keith, do you ever fly at Heath like the (good?) ole days?

I havent heard a whisper from Jim, nor Adam. Just trying to figure out when you might be somewhere where we could meet up. I have ordered a Sky Dog Dream On as I liked the look of it and after talking to kiteworld I thought is worth getting at the price as a general kite for me and also for my boys to learn to fly with. Unless I can find a used example, then a DS might follow in a custom paint job......

Jim isn't allowed to play with kites any more, Adam is still working for Dave at SOA but is more into power kites these days.

Heath never was that good a site to fly, and once you lot disappeared we went back to Cowbridge or (for team practice) Tewkesbury!

No correction needed (I have both). The Pulsar is something I don't mind letting complete newbies have a go on and crash. The DM is a nice kite.
