Recent Kite standouts: top 5

Sun Aug 25, 2024 6:23 am

Having been off the scene for some time, are there any new freestyle kites of note over the last 5-10 years? I imagine any improvements would be subtle. Can anyone put a list of 5 or more kites worth a mention? I see that many of the makers have made limited new lines; for obvious economic reasons. There are a few new designs from RD (Wind-r); L'Atelier, Benson and Kitehouse. There's also a few other designs floating around. Anyone road tested some new offerings lately? It would be nice to be able to buy a new shiny Nirvana for example again, but are they ever going to be available again?
Cheers ;)

Rsky stopped manufacturing kites a few years ago, so Nirvanas are now only available on second hand market.
Benson superfly is already over 15 years old, but has all tricks pre loaded and a joy to fly every time. You can also look at https://sportkitedesign.se/ as they have great kites and some that are less than 10 years old. In the US, there is https://www.canvaskitedesigns.com/ which was created not long ago.
You wanted a list of 5 kites, here is mine: Superfly standard, Superfly UL, Superfly SUL, Superfly vented (Tim is still reluctant to build one) and SKD Mohawk standard
In the bag(s): R-sky, Benson, Prism, Revolution, Quadrifoil and a few more...

That's a nice list ;) I am tempted to look at the Superfly down the track once I get my basic chops back...
Thank you

90Nine (build it yourself or let someone else do that)
Escape (same)

Both very all round kites, forgiving, relaxed, ...

Thank you Krijn, I'm reading a lot of good reviews about those designs. I will look into it ;)

Cheers,
