Bristol, third arena

Tue Sep 01, 2009 10:07 pm

OK,

Avril has generously offered STACK the exclusive use of the third arena at Bristol, the one the revs used last year.

Saturday - basic flying day
STACK will be running 1 hour taster lessons for novice fliers, just like we did at Portsmouth. Starting at 11am.
Arena for rev fliers only before 11am, and between 1 and 2

Sunday - trick flying day
This'll be a trick clinic / better flying day (TM) in the morning, and our normal Bristol mega trickout from 2pm. I'm sure Bryan will be there to help, and you will all help each other out as normal.

Again arena for rev fliers only from 1 til 2

If you could help out on the Saturday I'd appreciate it, Portsmouth was hard work, we (AirHeads) got through 8 pupils in three hours.

Sounds great, I plan to be there saturday morning. Do you guys have kites or will people bring their own. I don't plan on bringing a kite with me to the UK but maybe buying one in Bristol or at the festival. Perhaps I'll meet up with you guys first and get some advice before buying. I'm hoping to get the most out of this trip, learning and meeting new people , making contacts.

What about out-of-towners - is there a hangout where kiters go on saturday night (after the festival) - do you know?

Hope to see you guys in Bristol,

cheers, gos

Oh bums. We've just decided that with everything else that's going on, we can't do Bristol :(

Bit of a 'more information' request (couldn't get to portsmouth, sorry if this covers old ground), but is this just STACK members or would other flyers be helpful too? Also, would the taster lessons have a particular pattern or aim?

I'm not a member and I don't have experience of disciplined flying formats. I'd be happy to help for a bit though, if not with tuition than even just talking to those interested about the basics.

Saturday is aimed at beginner fliers, not novice competitors.

We'll have kites for you to use. Old Northshores, big and slow, ideal for beginners.

Coaching will be individually tailored. At
Portsmouth we took fliers through the basics of infinity and push turn squares, finishing off with getting them to fly infinity in pairs, either with an experienced flier or together. All in one hour

As for the trick coaching, STACK can supply some Fury.85s for this though normally people bring their own kites.

As for Saturday evening, there is a meal on site and auction, followed by fireworks normally, you'll be well entertained until the bar closes.

I think that was all

On yes, Saturday will cost £5 for those not in posession of appropriate public liability insurance, essentially membership of STACK for the day.

Can't have you crashing into someone and being sued.

Changes to the schedule to ensure we don't focus entirely on two line flying, see original post.

Thanks for making space for the quad fliers. Unfortunately I am not able to come to this event but if there are sufficient people wanting to know a little more about quad flying of any type we can always persuade STACK to arrange something in due course.

Enjoy the winds at Bristol, Guiness and Dublin is calling The Flying Squad.

All,

Just a quick update, looks like we have a press person wanting to 'have a go' on Sunday morning. I've indicated that it'll have to be first thing and we should be clear of the arena by 10:30 (1 hour starting at 9:30 I've told them). If you could be sure to give us a wide berth it'd help, not necessarily keeping the arena clear for us, but don't crowd us.

This might generate some publicity for EuroCup so it's important to STACK.

Thanks

You got it,

and of course any other time you can find space outside the arenas and someone to help.

I'll be around the 3rd arena for much of the day Sunday I guess, registrations for TO by 1.00 to start at 2.00 - just come over and put your name in the hat.
