Blackheath Kite & Bike Festival

Tue May 13, 2008 9:26 am

This is just over 4 weeks away, and I'm soo looking forward to it.
I'm looking to spend the whole of Saturday there, though I'm not sure Cheryl will handle that much kiting, so I might catch the train home drunk

Who else is heading over there on the Saturday?

Think I'll have to get an FA top asap and look out for others in FA kit :)

All,

Just had a email discussion with Gill and Jon and they have requested we run a Trick Out at Blackheath on both days.

We'll have a 30 min slot for each day so will probably only showcase the semis and final, with the heats running outside the arena.

I'll let you know the time slot when I know but assume the heats will be late morning at this stage.

Who's in???

Didn't this clash with Crantock? Or something else?

Be interesting to see how many people read the publicity and turn up in leathers...

Can't say if I'll be there but my parents are fairly local to Blackheath, so it's possible.

It's the weekend after Wirral and Beacon, unless I've got it wrong in my calendar. I seem to recall that there was some speculation that it would clash with them.

If you're thinking of driving there, be warned:

From the KiteSoc website
The main thing you should be aware of is that there is NO parking on the heath. Some parking is available in Greenwich Park and in Blackheath Village (or local roads) and we have been told that - for the Sunday anyway - most of the parking is free. The council preference is to use your bike or public transport. We know that kitefliers do not travel lightly so have arranged for a drop off point (NOT parking) adjacent to the festival site so you can drop your kit off. Unfortunately, due to the regulation you will have to have a drop off pass for this. These can be obtained from us by sending an SAE with your name and car registration number. The address is on the home page.

I know from experience that they give out parking tickets on Sundays. The parking in Greenwich Park is limited to 4 hour ticket meters and the closest local streets that you're likely to find free parking on the Sunday are quite a way from the site.

Yes mate, clashes directly with Teston :(

We've just realised we're in Birmingham on the Saturday, so will be there all Sunday instead.

Would be great to meet some FA crew for a fly & maybe a pint :D

If it's the w.e. after Beacon, then it is Crantock...

OK, so got the timetable now and Trick out is defined as 15:40 each day.

I know everyone is going to Crantock but those that are not I could really do with some help to pull this off, pretty please :-)

Keith, if I'm of any use at all, I'll be happy to help out.
Dave & Roy, hope to meet you both on the day :)

Just looked at the program, seems that all the display flying's happening on Saturday, only Airheads & Decorators & Mega Rev fly on Sunday :(

Have another look at the program, it's been updated on the KSGB website.
