White Horse Hill

Tue Mar 10, 2009 8:50 pm

Us Oxfordshire lot have been discussing a local meet recently, with the option of going up White Horse Hill, but we haven't opted for a finite date yet.

I'm starting this thread for an open discussion on this, and hopefully more would be interested in coming up to join in.

So, any takers??

tentative thought for Sat 21st and/or Sun 29th - comments please. Yes, I know the 29th clashes with winter league, not yet committed to go, but it's tempting.
perhaps a date in April? just not the Weston festival weekend - the start of the years circus!!

I can make
Sat 21st 10am till 1pm at white horse hill
And I intend to go to the winter league on the 29th just for the BFD stuff and to have a look at the competition side of things.

I think April is a bit busy allready, I know Yan has had little (no) response to the muted flying weekend down in Suffolk. Shouldn't colour anyone elses judgement, but I've got Calke Abbey MKF event on the 5th, Weston 18th and 19th, then Berck from 20th onward for a week or so.

Multimap knows it as Uffington Castle, near Swindon.

Tony, you thinking about winter league on 29th? it's a long way from Bath I suppose?

April is pretty much a right off for me workwise as I won't even be in the country :( Weston looked like it would be fun too!
A NOHD will be published for the DS in due course, till then wear sunnies.

Had an oppertunity for a brief chat with Tony S last night, he quite often flys up there on Sundays when he has time.
Booty and Miles F are talking of going to winter league, you two should talk!
I'm still on the fence for that - I'm still in the wifes bad books! should have fixed the landie back window my then.
Tony S will just be back from skiing on 29th, so probably stay local - will see on the day.
I fancy Sat 21st am at least - meet you up there Booty, any other takers?
Sun 29th still another possable? somebody bribe me!!!
Forecast for 21st looks good, 8mph westerly and sunny periods!!

21st is out for me, big 80th birthday celebration in the family going on that weekend! Winter League still an aspiration at the moment, flying time is pretty hard to come by at present :(

Wow, you don't look a day over 50!

Does this mean competition this summer is unlikely too then?

Go on, you know you want to :-)
