Portsmouth Easter Sunday

Sat Apr 10, 2004 7:55 pm

I'll be up for some Easter Sunday afternoon flying, starting about 1ish.

Maybe the common, although I'd like to promote the Hilton Field, Farlington as an alternative from time to time. Less lemmings, the dogs that *are* there tend to stick to the outside as there's nothing to walk across the middle for, less litter, less Northerly wind shadow (although you can't beat the common in a Southerly).

Field is bigger than the common with only three large trees in it.

Anyone going to be around?

Hopefully, I'll be down. I'll call you on the way if I do to check if it's the common or Hilton Field if I do.

Another alternative (to confuse issues) is to bundle Dave 'Mobius' Morley in Gosport?

OK, wind looks to be N-NE. You decide and I'll find out when I'm on my way.

Wind was weird at the Hilton, from 0 up to 12ish, constantly changing direction. Not sure if it's a feature of the field (being fairly close to Portsdown Hill) or if the wind was like that elsewhere today, but I don't remember it being like that last summer.

I flew Nirvana UL and Standard and put the Wren out (but didn't fly) and Jason flew Gem and Fusion.

Martin: We need longer lines... Jason had that Gem on 150' ;)

I had an absolutely top day. The wind was wierd, I've never experienced wind doing a complete 360 in a single day. I feel my flying went from early 1999 to Easter 2000 today. Only another 4 years to catch up on. [-o<

I can't beleive that you only mastered the axle last August, there's hope for me yet. Seriously thinking about french kites now... maybe after a Gemini UL. Hehe.

My theory is that Martin has devised some twisted genetic cloning experiment in his dungeon of shame, and there is now two of you and one flies and practices for 18 hours a day while the other one goes to work and all that other stuff. :-k
