I have to say after today stuff ya frenchies, there's years of life in the old Gem yet. Ive alos found an dead cert launch technique with the kite on its back nose toward you (as in fade). Sharp pull on one line, and it spins rouond, lifting its nose into the wind without any additional effort. Unlike the Nirvana which juts kept flopping belly down, and theres no way Im going to try deadlaunching that.
Shame we didnt persue the Gem formations flying lolol, maybe matching line lengths next time

Steve.. you're describing a Sleeping Beauty Launch and most kites, including (especially) the Nirvana will do it just fine.

Try popping the opposite line earlier than you are doing after the initiating pop and it will flare nose up no problem... promise.

Nirvana *will* deadlaunch fairly easily too...

Just so long as you're prepared to repair the spine stitching once in a while. :-D

Never try to Dead Launch in snow.

Mike.

Andy yep the sleeping beauty as Ive seen from the Prism DVD. I found the Gem does it with no probs, the nirvana needs some encouragment just as you describe. I found the E2 does it without any problem. I cannot deadluanch the nirvana, and dont want to learn to do this with that kite lol manages it once with the E2 just need lots more practice
