Sheffield Fly In, part 3

Wed Oct 05, 2005 5:04 pm

We are having another trick kite fly in on Saturday 15th October from 1:00pm at the Sportsman Pub, Lodge Moor.

This time we are encouraging Revolution (or any other quad line stunt kite) fliers to come along and join in the fun.

So if you are near the Sheffield area on the 15th we would love to see you.

That's really funny. There is a chap over at the Sheffield Kite Fliers forum with exactly the same kite as you. Do you know him? You could do a pairs routine with him. :-) :-) :-) :-)

It's Ok - you didn't miss much! Just myself, Dave and 1 other for the afternoon, and joined by someone else later on (who didn;t know about the fly in!). Very wet, damp, foggy sort of day with just enough wind to get the kites flying.... if they werent wet (which they were).

Lets hope for better things next time....

Is there plenty of room at Lodge Moor, I cant really tell from the aerial photo.
You're not far away so I might join you next time but maybe not if I'd be getting in the way of people buggying etc.

You would be welcome Ian - we really want to encourage the delta/revolution side of things as well as the power/traction stuff. The space at Lodge moor isnt huge for traction stuff, but more than OK for 'stick' kites - the main problem is if the wind is from the West then it's very gusty. And guess which is the most common wind direction... that's right Westerly! The trick and traction sides seem to coexist fairly well at he moment so even if you came along on a 'normal' session you would have space to fly.

Although this last delta/rev day was something of a washout we will be having another one in a few weeks.
