MKF fly in

Mon Apr 11, 2005 9:21 pm

...this Sunday (17th April) at Calke Abbey all day.

Cracking site, with really nice stately home and gardens to wander around if you get bored of the kites.

This is on again this year, this Sunday (1st April (not an April Fool) ), hopefully we'll have kinder conditions this year.

(That's the 'P' word out of the question though John, unless you fancy a trip...)

I had a fun afternoon - plenty of wind - and I got to explain at length how it all worked to a nice old gent in a Rolls-Royce

Seemed to have missed a year of announcing this - go figure.

Anyhoot, Sunday 5th April if anyone fancies a day out. Peters' thread on White horse Hill reminded me.

Really looking forward to this one as I've not met any other flyers since OSOW at Rufford last October. I'm still a relative n00b at this trick flying, but after buying a Gemini last year I've been out practicing nearly every week an have learnt alot in the last 6 months.
I've just orded a new custom DS and Tim's promised to have it to me by the 28th (hopefully! :-D ) so I'll be looking for some advice from the more experianced flyers at Calke Abbey.
I'd be interested in TP & VF this year but I still have a long way to go.

Hi all,

I might be able to make this! Sorry, can you fill me in a little more? Seems like it's just a friendly get together?

Thanks!

Jamie.

That's exactly what it is, except we've got an arena to put on a display for public visitors to the grounds. 's a nice place to visit with plenty to see and do for the non-flying participants.

Free entry with either National Trust cards, or MKF membership (though the bloke on the gate will probably accept any kite club membership if you say you're part of the 'kite day'. Parking on the field if there's still room.

Highwaymen will be trading.

Anything else?

Thanks Bryan,

Unfortunately I checked with the talking diary and was reminded we can't actually make it that day :( A real shame, it sounds like fun and I've only met 2 other FA'ers so far! (To my knowledge!).

I'll keep an eye out for other events whish aren't too far from Sheffield and will def meet some of you guys one day!

Many thanks for the info anyway!

Jamie.
