VF9 Now - 30th April

Tue Mar 18, 2008 5:32 pm

Nice succint subject - Covers the basics.

It's Round9 - It starts now - and runs until 30th April.

Rules are as normal (and will be on the website as soon as the @*%£$ thing is fixed) you can see the old host here http://www.bigdavey.dsl.pipex.com in the meantime.

Rules summary for Round 9:

    Start on the ground.
Get filmed flailing about. (Clarification: not you - the kite...)
Choose a suitable block of between 60-90 seconds.
Make the video with no in-flight edits - titles in and out are ok!
Email me the video file (<10mb) or link to virtualfreestyle@gmail.com.
When the round finishes score your competitors videos.
    Enjoy!

I'll stump up for a prize for this round of an FA Beanie! Winner to be drawn from list of participants.

Post in this thread, or email me at any of my millions of email addresses!

PS: Thanks to those who've offered help, it's been enough to get me off my arse and get this running again! :) I may yet call on you for future rounds.

PPS: I know that I've had a lot of web problems - To be fair, I'm a bit of a cheapskate and I haven't had as much time to dedicate to getting it running (p/t studies, real life, etc. etc. etc) but that's not fair on all you lovely people, so I'm extracting the finger and getting it sorted. Who knows - I may even be able to get flying this year and take part in my own comp!!!

Can we get some thoughts on the subject for this round? How do we interpret 'back to basics'?
Are we looking to submit routines with only/mainly 'old school' tricks and square corners? Is this a retro round?
What's everyone else thinking?
(Sorry if there's more of a description on the website - it was down when I looked).

Where does it say 'back to basics'?

The beauty of VF is that it's as basic as it gets. 60-90s of unedited video starting with the kite on the ground.

Yeah, sorry - I read Davey's post last night then replied this morning without re-checking it.
I got the wording wrong but the question still stands. Is everyone thinking of including as many 'building block' tricks in their routine as needed to 'cover the basics'? How closely should we try and stick to the subject of the round?
Or is everyone interpreting this differently?

Doesn't Davey's "cover the basics" refer to the subject line of this thread ? :-k

It is VF9. The deadline is the 30th of April.

Perhaps you're over thinking this :-)

Er. Yes.
I see that now.

I think I was getting confused with all that 'Deep Space 9' round-naming malarkey.

Coat got already.

I see what you've done there. Perfectly understandable assumption if you happened to read it that way.

Anyone at Berck for the second weekend (Sat 12th), who doesn't normally get chance to have a go at this, or just wants to use the opportunity...
I'll take the camera to the beach and set aside a couple of hours, say from 2pm to stand and do some filming. Then do the relevant edity bits in good time to submit to Davey.

Could TO after if there's enough of us around.

Bryan
