Yes you could indeed, winter leagues are figures only competitions, designed to provide a gently start for novices. You don't even have to be a STACK member for this.

If I were you I'd get in touch with some of the other London fliers first though, maybe go down together, it's a fair trip to Southampton.

If you bring a K2 then you'll get lot's of interest in meeting up to fly with you :-)

I am thinking about coming down to this, not to compete just to meet up and have a look. And I was wondering if there is going be any BFD coaching ?

This is run by Alan Pothecary of Close Encounters kites, he calls his coaching better flying days but it won't be trick coaching, just figures prep and team flying. It's not a real Better Flying Day (TM).

Of course a BFD(TM) is wherever there is a group of FAers with at least one that knows what they are doing, so depends who is attending.

's not beyond the realms of possibilty that a day trip could work. Wasn't there something else going on though?

There doesn’t seem much interest in this one,
best I wait for the next BFD ™.

From Allan:

Pilots meeting at 10.30 and start at 11.00 Prompt (ish).

Figures and location can be found here

http://www.closeencounterskites.co.uk/w ... 02010.html

Four things........

1) Please check the Close Encounters web-site before you leave just to be sure that we have not been forced to change the venue or something silly.

2) If you are likely to be late – let us know so that we can still try to accommodate you.

3) If anyone wants to arrange their own tricks competition afterwards they are more than welcome.

4) If we get time after we will be available for a mini “Better Flying” session.

Best regards

Yeah, 'Out' I think at this point...
Conditions looking horrible for the long trip to be worthwhile.

What Bryan said ^^^^

If it's nice out we'll go. I'll see in the morning.

(mind you, at the windspeed the met office are forecasting, Cam'll get dragged about a bit)
