Relocating Final Round

Thu Jul 08, 2004 8:53 pm

This is a quick note to confirm that the final round of the STACK National Championships is being relocated to the Southampton Kite Festival site. The event will still take place on August 7-8 as previously planned. Alec Elliot has advised me that camping will be permitted and we are attempting to gain access to toilets/showers and other facilities. It should be noted that there will also be a small surcharge at this event to cover the cost of hiring the field.

For those interested, here is a run down of the other venues approached;
Weston-Super-Mare - Available but difficult logistics.
Luton - Required 3 months notice.
Newbury - Not available.
Gosport - Unable to contact council.

The event will still include Trick Out competitions on the sunday. Be there or be [].

The final round will include the following events;

Dual Line Indi
Dual Line Pair
Dual Line Team
Multi Line Individual
Trick Out Master
Trick Out Novice

These are all the events that would have been staged at Middle Wallop. It has not been possible to relocate the Multi Line event from the cancelled Newbury event.

Hi Andy, I have no idea where the site is, but intend to come down, fly, trickout and to support my friends / chill out.

Are there and facilities and ... er .. where is it?

Map.

Same place as the festival site.

There is a clubhouse there with toilets.. I expect they'll be open. Apart from that there's not much else, but it can't be far to the closest shops/pub.

Is anyone going to be down friday evening? driving alex savell down... think sash is coming down then as well... the more the better, as not overly keen camping without security, or large numbers (with guns... ?!)

Yes. I am not keen on the security side either. I will be camping Friday and Saturday night though.

Alec tells me that he will have the keys to the site, but the site will not be opened for us until we get there. I will be planning to arrive around 9pm. Is anybody expecting to arrive earlier? If so, when. I will ask Alec to be there to meet you.

I am not sure when Robin is arriving. Or when I am. Depends when the post comes.

I'll be there with Paula from Friday. Hoping to get there around 6:30 (ever the optomist)

You will need extra tough tent pegs or a pile-driver. I wonder if he ground is softer on the far side of the site, or by the line of trees? Does anyone know?
Gotta fly,

Steve

Okay. I will check in with Alec, and warn him that people will be arriving from about 6:30pm. It may be necessary for the first arrival to call Alec and arrange for him to come and open up.

More later.
