Tricks Party - I've never done one, does that make me a novice?

What do I have to do?

Trick kite or T4?

Same as precision, in - fly - out. 'cept obviously you do the trick instead of the figure. Unless you wanna do the TP ballet as well, then you'll need some music, and a ballet sheet that you've filled out before-hand that tells the judges what tricks you'll be flying in what order during the ballet.

Does that mean that you only get on attempt at the trick unless you do a ballet? Where you can keep doing it until you get it right :-)

You get two attempts, but you score better for getting it right first time.

This is from TP USA rules for imposed tricks:

► On the day of competition, the judges will choose 4 of the 8 pre-selected tricks on the basis of the current wind conditions. These tricks will be announced before the discipline begins. The 4 tricks must be flown in the order announced.
► After setup, individuals have 2 minutes to fly all 4 tricks; pairs and teams have 3 minutes.
► The field director will inform the competitor when the stopwatch is being started.
► During the performance, the field director will prompt the competitor with each trick in the order specified and, after a first attempt has been flown, will ask the competitor if a second attempt will be made. If no second attempt will be made, the flier may move immediately to the first attempt of the next trick. (The field director signals to the judges whether the competitor is about to fly the first or second attempt of each trick.)
► A competitor may skip a trick entirely (allowing the field director enough time to communicate that information to the judges before flying the first attempt of the next trick) or may skip the second attempt at any trick.
► Competitors should call IN just before starting the first attempt of each trick; no OUT call is required.

The full rules and trick definitions are here:

As they are choosing 3 from 5 possible tricks they might also be straying from these rules in other areas (not a problem as far as I'm concerned) so we need to hear from Keith or Bryan about this.

Yup, 3 from 5 for this one. I guess 4 from 8 will be a better option for the summer, to fall into line. The ballets are the same as.

Throughout the winter, we've been having in - out calls for each individual trick to give the judges time to write etc. but it's not a biggy.
