Here are the scores from the Trickster Comp at Southampton;

Andy S - 65.34
Martin D - 57.33
Matt B - 54.04
Steve B - 46.62

Judges: myself and cbh

These scores will go forward for the STACK rankings. Unfortunately the final score is averaged over two rounds, and I know that Andy and Martin are not available next week for Blackheath. However, there is a rumour of a league in Newbury in April (suggested to me yesterday) on April 4th. Watch this space.

Yes. Congrats to Andy and Martin for giving it a whirl and coming out on top. Especially Martin who only decided to take part at the last moment.

For info, I tried the comp tricks myself and I would have a got a score of 59.40, which would have put me second to Andy. The general consensus was that this combination of tricks was a bit much for a "novice/fun" category. I will tone down the selection a bit next time.

:D

big thanks to Mr Phelps for organising the comp

and to Craig for taking the time to judge. I can't believe Martin wasn't going to fly. There's a lesson for anyone thinking they're not up to it, or worried about "competing". Have a go, the more the merrier.

Just to join in the big thanks-fest ;)
Thanks to Andy for organising and judging, Craig for judging, and Matt and Steve and Martin for competing.

It was nice to meet Faith and Christopher too... Looks like Chris will go a long way - his flying is already very good. His continuous interrogation of everyone on the field was very funny too.

Just echoing the congratulations to Andy & Martin for their great results. It was good to meet you and get out for a fly. Looking forward to hooking up again soon on the common.

Jason.

Have to ask - What music was chosen for the comp - and what was the wind like?

Reason is that I've been considering holding a comp here - a sorta fun fly-out for local folks. It'd give me some ideas as to what's gone before.

Wind was between 3 and 10ish all day. Dropped down nicely for our comp though, luckily. There is no music for Trickster, just like there is no music for precision figures, although I don't suppose it would do any harm.

Gotcha - Music's with the Trick-Out format, not the Trickster.

Cheers.

Thanks for the good commentary. I have heard nothing from the Newbury guys re. April 4th yet. I will give them until next week, and then might go ahead and arrange a League/Trickster somewhere on the 4th anyway. Newbury seems like a logical spot to bring together the south coast and south wales chapters of FA. Does anybody have a better suggestion?

Also, I do now have the go-ahead to arrange something at the Basingstoke Festival this year. I am contemplating a Trickster comp here as well. That would be on June 6th.

Are the South-Wales / Bristol contingent up for a Trickster on the 4th April? That would be cool.
