I've updated my Kite Tricks pages to reflect these changes.

No Dead Launch any more?

Dead launch was dropped indeed (voted). The lists of all the routines of the past were checked and it wasn't even listed once.

It was in TP USA.
Dead Launch
Group 3
The DEAD LAUNCH is a launch that begins with the kite on the ground, belly down and nose toward the pilot. The kite is pulled toward the pilot so that it rises off the ground and launches straight up.
KEY ELEMENTS: Clean launch and vertical climb.

Did anyone actually put one into a routine though ? "Only" Group 3 and huge potential for messing up.

Mike.

Over the few years that Tricksparty has been around, kites evolved and people started to build their own kites just to do the group 4 and 5 tricks easy. There are models that do yoyo multi-lazies far easier than a 540. L'Organic from Christian Derefat can do a Yo-fade as easy as a fade.
So we asked the pilots to list the tricks from a technical point of view. What trick is easy on every kite (or close to) and what trick close to impossible?
That's the main force behind the change in the grouping of the tricks, let's fly this for a season and see what happens.
Oh yes, the "Reversed Coin Toss" is a Coin Toss where you pull the bottom wing, do an axel and put the kite back on the same wingtip it started from.
The last time we had a Coin Toss on the menu, only 2 out of 10 pilots were able to do something that looked like a Coin Toss ;-)
Flying now: B'zar 2010 STD and UL, B'zar 2011, BatQuartz, E2, Elixir, Modded Gemini, Flashlight, Sweety, Deepspace, Superfly.

I think I remember a TP Germany video with the same level of competence :o

The first competition (Bergeijk, NL) gave us an insight on how the pilots adapted their ballet to the new groupings and rules.
28 different tricks were picked from the list: group 1 (4), group 2 (8), group 3 (10), group 4 (6).
The new style points are not that well to get high scores, unless you can put together a nice music-connected routine AND you fly in between your 9 tricks other tricks that are technically OK en flown with a flair for risk taking.
It will take a full year of competition (4 in the Dutch ranking) to get to grip with the new rules, but the judges were pleased with the changes, that's for sure.
Flying now: B'zar 2010 STD and UL, B'zar 2011, BatQuartz, E2, Elixir, Modded Gemini, Flashlight, Sweety, Deepspace, Superfly.
