Hi all,

Been lurking in the background for a while now, about time I made first post so here goes.

Been flying revs now for about 12 months, started with the rev 1 then added rev 1.5 sle & rev 1.5 vented. So far I have flown all kites on same lineset 150lb x 85ft, thought it was about time got new lines.

I have bought a roll of 150lb shanti line & some sleeving & was going to make a long & short lineset, say 100/125 for the long. Does this seem about right.

For the short set not sure what length to make them, the intention was to use them at festivals etc when space is restricted, and I would like to have a go at the catch & throw, which I believe is better with short lines.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I fly my Rev 2 and Rev Supersonic on very short lines - about 40 feet. The catch and throw are much easier with short lines.

100ft and 120ft are popular lengths.

we fly on 125 ft most of the time......... a rev 2 on 15 ft lines is fun

150lb line is very heavy for all but a Rev 1 in stroooong winds. I'd suggest you try 80-90lb lines instead.

80-90 lb only in a gale :shock:

I use 25 dan climax protec, line sets 10, 15,20,25 & 30 metres
but I do need a longer set 125ft ish , 38.41 metres ish
I fly rev sul, sle, vented & a flic type light wind.

Now made 40ft set tried it out at the weekend, once I got used to it, was fun being able to fly in a much smaller area.

Will make a longer set this weekend & try a 90lb set too.

Hi all just got a rev exp great fun to fly , am just wondering what the best way to wrap your linws up after wards , some say on to a winder and some on the handles , just wonder what everyone thinks cheers gary.

I tried the "on the handles" method once, got in a right mess never again.

Well as a power kiter I allways used to wrap around the handles

but I now use the two winder method

as long s you wind on and off the same way you should have no probs i:e allways hold in the right hand and wrap clockwise then to unwrap just go anticlockwisestill holding in the right hand and all should be well ? but if the lines fall off your handles in the bag then your f**ked

Wind all lines onto one winder, larks knot the pairs,and then put both sets (now 4 lines) on the notch of the winder then wind, not a figure of 8, but just round and round the winder.
Used to do it the 2 winder method but i now find it a lot easier to wrap all togeather now. Then when you come to wind out, stake all lines (2 lots) walk the lines out, then get a pair in each arm, spread your arms wide, the lines then should divide themselves to the stake, attach Rev at the stake end, and handles on the end you have just parted.
Seems that most of the Flying Squad does it this way.

Gary, any particular reason why you dont wind in figure of 8

Dave, they just seemed to come off the winder easier when there are 4 lines togeather a figure of 8 with 4 lines is a bit scary
