Rev1 wind range

Tue Jun 20, 2006 10:44 am

Another question from a rev newbie . The publicity says "up to 25 mph" well i had mine out in 15-20 and gusty and my wrists are aching today :?
I'm up to reverse take off part of the training and after one attempt I gave up  Would I be right in saying that 10-15 mph is best range for enjoying the Rev1 ?? I am new to rev's but have flown power kites for years...and the aching wrists may be because I am getting used to the new "thumb control" action.
John (looking for a vented Rev 1)

A Rev 1 in those conditions- 15 mph and upwards will be hard work, there is a larger sail area to contend with.
Try letting a bit more "brake" out ,you won't have as much response, but it will lessen the "ache".......As far as a Vented Rev 1 why do need one of those, surely a Vented SLE will do ?.....

My plan is to own 2 Rev1's (standard & vented) with 2 sets of spars (sle & ultra lights) Of course I do have a problem.......they dont make vented Rev1's !! You must understand that I am suffering from Rev Beginner Syndrome (RBS) Excitement, "what to buy next", "can I make one" etc etc............and I've not even got passed the reverse take off stage yet !!!
I'm sure i will settle down soon but in the mean time i may need advise from the experienced ones :-) At present i have a decent sized kite and cant envisage owning a smaller Rev. Maybe I will see the light but at present I cant see beyond a Rev1...........anyway,where's those extended handles that I'm halfway through making :)

A Vented SLE "will do" however, a Vented 1 will always be more precise

My Rev flying is at the same stage as yours.

Instead of a vented Rev 1 have you thought about getting a set of SLE spars for the Rev 1? Price is about £45.

SLEs, Gary.

I flew my 1.5 SLE yesterday in winds in which the Rev 1 had given up and was well impressed at how well the SLE flew and stayed rigid.
