Since some little scroats nicked my lines I need to replace them.
Last lot came with the kites so I just attached and flew.
What do I need to get, same weight? 85ft?
If I new where to start making my own I'd get line from the FA shop...but I don't have a clue.
Any experienced Rev flyers got any idea?

It's worth learning how to sleeve your own lines, and not difficult. The sleeving kits we sell come with instructions, but it's simple. You put the tool (which is a loop of wire) through the sleeving, thread the end of the line through the tool a little way and then pull it back through. Smooth out the sleeving so it's taut, fold the sleeved portion of line in half and tie a figure-8 knot in the loop. Then tie an overhand knot in the loose end and (optional) melt the very end a little with a fag lighter, or the gas hob (make sure the missus doesn't see.)

Ogre, try and start with lines longer than 85FT because that does not give you an awfull lot of sky to start practising a Rev........we normally fly from 100-125ft lines.....if you buy 120 pound line, that will see you for most wind conditions. We use up to 150Ib in the really windy days, 25mph plus with a vented or teabag Rev.
And as low as 85Lb for light wind 3-5 mph...hope this helps ya!!

So top & bottom lines are same weight? Not like on my Firebee4 where they are different breaking strains (I suppose bottom brake lines need not be as strong as the top control lines but on a Rev there are no brake lines only 4 control lines)

Yes and Andy is right it is easy but you need patience getting them all equal length. I did my first set a few weeks ago and Gary gave me a great tip.

Make up one line the desired length and use that as the master to check the length of the others against.

Don’t pull them tight to compare the length, you will never get equal tension on both lines.

With the lines staked at one end, go to the other end hold two lines together and let them hang under their own weight, look down the length and compare the bow then adjust until the lines bow equally.

Choose a calm day and allow yourself enough time to do a good job and it will be time well spent.

I actually really enjoy the process, especially on a nice day with no wind, when you really feel like doing something kite-related. Very therapeutic.

When they're balanced, remember to alternate top and bottom so that they get equal stretch.

We use 80lb normally and 50lb for light winds
Never needed 150lb

Okay just to settle the argument the first set I did was Climax Profiline it’s the one that was purple but now comes florescent yellow, you can see it, I used the slack method it worked fine.

I have just done a light weight set Climax Protec It’s a sort of Strawberry Mivi pink anything over about 5 ft away and it’s invisible can’t see for shit, so had to use the tight method.

So you could say this time I’m sitting on the fence.
