Line Length

Thu Apr 11, 2013 1:59 pm

Just wondering about different line length. I have a couple of 85 foot lines and am going to make some 65 foot lines I think.
How short do other people fly on?

Try a rev II (or equivalent) on 5m lines on low ish wind days. It used to be called 3D flying as you can pull the kite in towards you, catches and throws are possible as are 360s on very light days. flying the kite up and over into the wind then gives you possibilities for getting back down wind with style!

I once saw a Rev 1 being flown on 300' lines, that just looked wrong though!

Think I might invest in another 40m line set (might even trim 10ft off them) and keep them for long lines. I won't be going longer!
And I might cut a pair of 25m ones in half to make some short 12.5m ones. I've only got the rev sle (would love a B2, but funds aren't health) so will see how I get on with those.
Thanks for the advice

120' lines seem to be the de facto standard for quad line fliers so a set of those will enable you to fly in with the group flies. As for the smaller set, you should have a lot of fun with that length. It makes interaction with objects and people a lot eaisier.

Enjoy

Buy 300 yards of berkeley crystal fishing line, and make up a fair few sets mate. It will work out loads cheaper.
