We're OK

Sun Dec 23, 2012 10:16 pm

There's been a few ask, so http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-20825081 this was our village yesterday. We live half a mile behind where the first photo was taken from, and the shop is at the bottom of the road you can see, turn left, 50 yds up on the right hand side. The flood water was running fast to within an inch or two of our shop door, but didn't come in, unlike the poor buggers at the bottom of the street as you can see.

'kin carnage, and Christmas trade a write off for all concerned. So absolute disaster, but no damage to anything of ours - mighty close. Water all gone now, just a mess to clean up for those most badly affected.

Ermmm. Happy Christmas.

I did see it on the news Bryan. Just aweful for all concerned. Glad your premises came out alright and fingers crossed for dryer weather

Missed the news about Braunton as we headed down to Devon for Christmas.

We dropped in to see Bryan and family on Boxing Day. Always good to meet up with Bryan and a good excuse to get a break from the M-i-L for a couple of hours. ;).

What was amazing was driving down the high street four days after the flooding and seeing next to no signs of the flooding, save for some sandbags in a few of the shop doorways.

There's nothing like a bit of adversity to get everybody pulling together. :)
