I was fortunate enough to see the preview screening at this years AKA convention - many thanks to those involved in arranging all that!

The film (like the book) is largely about the life and struggles of the two main characters, so don't expect lots of kite scenes. But having said that, the flying sequences are very good. I presume in this day of computer graphics there would have been some enhancements, but the kite scenes are very believable, and beautifully done. No apparent blunders (kites flying in opposite directions to flags, etc.) makes a nice change.

I have just finished reading the book and it was gripping all the way through. The kites in it are mainly used as a metaphor as how the main characters life.

Saw the film this afternoon. Excellent story, harrowing in places, well acted and well filmed. I don't want to say much more (spoiler).
