Tue Mar 12, 2013 12:30 pm

Can you use 6mm fibre glass rod instead of a carbon ferrule at the centre t and if so what are the differences in terms of strength and flexibility? Thanks

Yes, and not much over the size of bit you're talking about.

Think L'Atelier used them on the XTr/Xts range, have no idea if it was better or worse than carbon, but the kites flew nicely.

No problem of strength or flexibility with à +/- 4" long ferrule.

But for SkyShark spars, ø 6.1 mm ferrule (.240") fits better than 6 mm !
