MAGNET - Plans

Sun Jan 06, 2013 9:07 pm

Hi guys,

I hope to hit the right board, if not please put the thread to another one. I want to share the plans of the Magnet with you. I developed it over 1,5 years and like the idea of an open source project.

Please read the "How to" and "Readme"`s carefully, if you got any questions just let me know. I don`t want to bother you with more words but let the movies speak!

Thanks David for this generous donation =D>

The Magnet is a very capable design and a hoot to fly y'all (just keep your inputs small/light and fast).

Agree with Frazer. The Magnet is an absolute scream.

A latter day interpretation of Andy Preston's 'controlled uncontrollability' (and I mean that in a good way ;))

Just need the ballast and the yoyo stops and for the low to move off the coast and the wind to drop to a "nice" level, not as fresh as Mr Beasly's VF attempt but plenty there.

Here's mine, with a bit of changes to the original project (hope you don't mind David!).
Made of what I had - leftovers and what I could easily get.

More photos HERE

Used a velcro tail, different sail tensioning, different nose sewing (same shape but different method).

Also sparred differently:
6mm cft - LE, US
DT15 - spine (left from broken LE of eolo Over ;))
P300 - LS

I hope it will fly as well as the original design ;)
Still waiting for the winds to drop...

Thanks David for the plans!

Paweł

David agreed to have the Magnet plans hosted on my webpage in english. This might provide more detailed and centralized information about this great kite.

I've also added a builds page with all the Magnets that haven been build untill now. If you have a picture of a Magnet that isn't on the page yet or in the case you don't want our picture shown on the site, just let us know and we'll add or delete the pic.

The link to the german plans is still there as well.

Enjoy.
