good idea and neatly done, this is permanent solution, tying and untying it will be a pain.

I don't get it, if you're going to tape it all up why go to the bother of doing all the other stuff?

You could use heat shrink and then put the end cap on last.

Challenger did this (see the demo. tour kites of yore) and when a broke an LE spar I did swear and swear and swear again.

I'm quite happy to have a tight line around the nock and then a wrap o' electrician's tape to tidy it up.
