Oversteer on Viper

Wed Jun 24, 2009 1:13 pm

Hi Guys

I have a Spirit of Air Viper and it seems to suffer from oversteer?
When I try and correct a spin or change direction it seems to go past 180 degrees and spin the other way.
is there a fix for this, bridle adjustment etc?

Shorten the upper outhaul (bring the nose towards you). Then set light to it and never look back

TBh. most of these cheapy stunters oversteer, I doubt there's much you can do.

Indeed ...

.1) Give the kite so someone you don't much like ...

.2) And go buy a proper kite ... a SIN for example ... from Craig.

Poor little (well about 2.1m actually) kite.
Sat unloved in a beach shop for a season or two until it was cruelly discounted and along came Russell and offered it a purpose in life.
But then it's first flight was in impossible conditions
and now it's just the butt of FA 'humour'. :(

Perhaps it's pining for home.If you ever get back to Pembs. see if you can bring it along and we'll give it another go.

Stan you were bloody there when I bought it!!
You tried to fly it if I recall?? Mind you that was a very odd wind day!

With regard to cheap £100 kites, my Alpha flies, my Tramontona Flies, as do many of my others

One of the smoothest, easiest kites ever to fly. Viper tracks like a team kite and tricks like a freestyler. Even the most complex manoeuvres flow with ease from this awesome kite, true technical ecstasy.

Hi uktotty

a serious reply now

I bought a viper for my son and saw him struggling with oversteer too so I tried it and sure enough it wasn't just him doing it. To fix it, loop the top bridle attachment under the top spreader rod before putting the spreader into the top holes. This shortens the bridle by about half an inch which felt so much better when we tried it after. Better still actually shorten the top bridles and re tie them. My son Hasn't got round to flying it much recently as he always wants my gemini now instead. good luck
