Gemini vs Widow Maker

Fri Mar 20, 2009 12:15 pm

Hi Folks.

Quick question as i am struggling to make up my mind.

If you had to choose, which one would you have?

The Benson Gemini or the Sky Burner Widow Maker?

Cheers

Judging from what I have read or heard, the Deep Space is more comparable the Window Breaker...so I venture to guess that's your set of choices.

And the DS is what I would vote for. I have heard loads of ho-hum stuff said about the Window Breaker.

I'd go for the DS, because it doesn't have a mortifyingly inappropriate name.

More modern design means it can do more tricks, or at least do more tricks more easily, and it has better low wind qualities and is a touch more precise.

The Gem looks prettier though.

I have to say that I'm pretty happy with my widowmaker. I've learnt loads on it and maybe its just because I've flown it a lot, but its edged its way in front of my DS as first choice fly. It flies with less wind than even the DS does. It may be my slow reactions, but I just feel more in control.

Only down side is the sail pattern, but even that I like now! I've been pondering a gemini myself, but on the basis that it will be different from my widowmaker.

Oh and I think that the build quality on the widowmaker is excellent. I would say comparable even to Benson. Beautiful french seams throughout.
