Wap do Wroll up

Thu Dec 04, 2008 10:33 pm

I was practicing Wap do Waps the other day.
You all know how it goes;
Start in Fade, and give a solid yank on both lines, followed by bags of slack.
The kite (Talon Std) goes from Fade to Pancake, and then further to Fade again, (but with the lines underneath. So far everything is running as per RandyG (thanks Randy). Here one would normally tug one line for the spin.
What I found however, was that by letting the kite rotate another 90 deg, so that the nose was pointing down, and at this point taking up the slack, I had effectively achieved a roll-up, and could happily fly off.

Is there a name for this ?

The first half of a fruit roll? (which ends with unwrapping it in a nose-down position).

It's a less technical trick than a wap-do-wap: didn't you discover it while learning to flicflac? I found (and still find) it the most reliable way of wrapping the kite.

I call it a "nose-down wrap", though I'm sure other people have other names.

As per TP yes, one variation of a proper Yoyo.

Your welcome. ;-)

Rolling twice with a spin is a Lad-o-Lol or something like that, right?

Yeah, or a down-yo...think I have heard that, too. Like, are you 'down yo'?

Because it's nose down I reverse the wording, making it a Yo-yo.

I think this is normally the first yoyo people learn as it's probably the easiest.

:oops: errm, sorry folks. The Prism DVD has, as far as I can remember, only the Nose-Up version. Having just watched RandyG's Yo-Yo tutorial for the first time, I realise that the answer was there all the time.
I'll get my coat .....
