horizontal > pancake / how do they do it?

Horizontal > pancake > fade > etc
Can someone explain the technique for doing a horizontal > pancake please?
I've done it a couple of times but couldn't work out how I did it.

it's 1/2 a 1/2 axel
to do it slow, fly towards the edge of the window horizontally, then push and pop the top wing as if for a 1/2 axel, then don't pull the other wing to complete the 1/2 axel, and hey presto, your kite is pancaked from horizontal flight.

Thanks Rob, so that's what a Fractured Axel is??
Thanks for the concise explanation Keith, I can now recall where I've done this before and it should be "hey presto" doing it again.
