What *AM* I doing ?

Tue Nov 06, 2007 5:57 pm

A little naming help here, please.

I've stumbled into a very addictive little combo. that someone undoubtedly has put a name to before but I can neither think of it nor find it online. And I've had a good look around the usual suspect sites.

Here's how it goes:-
kite in a vertical dive
Axel-style pop to flip the kite over into a Turtle
full Lazy Susan back to a Turtle
pull out but let the kite rotate fully 360° forwards from Turtle, past upright, past nose-plant, past nose down and finally nose away
Crazy Copter
finally knock it on the head and do something else

(I think I've got this right)

Hit with the right rhythm this looks v. smooth. Without it looks very disjointed.

So... pre-named ? Is it on some must-see video that I haven't ? Given that there's a Crazy Copter in there (somewhere) I suspect Piero might have a clue  I've only got a day before I head off to work but I'll try to get this on video, Finnish weather gods permitting.

Mike.

I can't recall ever seeing anything like it but I can't say I watch every video that's posted. Am I understanding the first imput as that of a Kombo?

Suggested names:

Turtle Copter
Lazy Turtle Copter
Lazy Copter

Or better yet:

Zippy Dee Doo Dah :lolmen:

You am understanding. :-)

That's what I was doing (well off ground as I'm still playing with this new-to-me kite) and just improvised from the recovery.

It sounds nice. I are going to try it next time out. :P

Definitely a video would be nice.

I've not seen it or done it, the closest thing I've seen to it is Dave (Smithcreek) on his Blue Moon Exile video unwraping a yoyo and continuing the pitch movement to nose away and crazy copter.
Sounds very cool, what's the kite Mike ?

R-Sky Krystal FX Collector's Edition :pimping:

Previously the property of Frazer, I've only had it a few days but I'm slowly learning that with a frame of mostly Icone Whites (like upmarket 5PTs) you can spank it like a ginger haired stepchild and it won't complain. Quite pitchy and no lightweight so it moves about quite a bit.

I will try for film but it'll be when I get to it, not to a deadline. Someone else can get it done before I'm sure.

You and me both  . I'm back home Friday so I'll give it a go over the weekend. In order to fit in with the current wave of video stylings I am planning on 17 minutes of a camping trip first then a little bit of flying.

It's a Kombo into a crazy copter isn't it? A Kombo-Copter.

I thought you flew in your back garden, so surely the minute walk from your back door would suffice :-k

To a landing, yes, not that I've tried it yet. New kite, expensive spars, no spares.
The aerial version I have been toying with would then be Air Kombo Copter.

Got to pad it out somehow. The flying itself isn't going to take up much time.

Can't you find some washing to take in, or something?
