That's a nice move but not strictly what I think of as a Dead Launch.

Interesting. On a soft ground like this a regular deadlaunch wouldn't work, of course.
Somehow the deadlaunch is not one of the really nice tricks, rather a necessity when the kite accidentally landed on it's belly.

Here is another variety: Look for "Bagouse"

In fact, It's not a deadlaunch at all, since the lines are running over the kite. Difficult enough.

Works on snow as well.... but damned hard to do indoor! ;-)

Been doing this since nov 2005 when I saw people doing it at tybee. I even have it in 2 of my videos (first mohawk video and a spike video).

Be careful though, it breaks upper spreaders quite easily if you catch it wrong.

One of these. It's Joao Monteiro's modded Akuji; sail by Yann, framing by Joao -- he gives the frame and weight details at the end of the video. He's also mentioned it on this forum, so a search may reveal more...

Great...having aroused my curiosity as to whether this is the move that the attempting thereof
scarred my Gemini,I can't get this page to load!

Funnily enough I recently discovered my Eolo 'Ice' likes deadlaunching on hard sand-give it a little slack,then snatch the lines taut and it bounces,
the wind gets under the nose and it just stands up,usually taking off without further input from me;no skill required.

I could see the video page at the first attempt but when I clicked on the
specific video it opened Windows Media Player,buffered upto 98% then froze.Then (and now) I couldn't get the vid page to load at all!

Tried Firefox;no better........

If you can see the overview page, you can try with a right-click and save as...

That is what I usually do unless I'm in a hurry to see what the video is about.
Unfortunately I still cannot see the overview page.
Internet Explorer says the page is unavailable.
Firefox says the server took too long to respond.
