Is s/he still a mate? Aweful lot of Tedlar tape required there.

Looks like the tear started at the stitching near the keel and travelled up - high wind flying?

May be patchable but not going to look pretty ever again.

Maybe you could beg Tim nicely for a professional patch? Offer him lots of dosh & your french mate for some testing to destruction/target practice.
Love Veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Needs to fly more, now that I can.

The French mate is still a mate he's going to stump up for a new one(allready ordered from Tim) so it's not all bad.

The fully powered up center of window lawn dart is not a trick I'm in a hurry to learn.

Thanks for the picture!
poor kite!
The seam along the keel are a week spot (with or without mylar reinforcment) on modern kites, high wind flying and lawn dart are there to prove it.

Looks salvagable - just.

Carl did a repair on one of the team kites recently which got a tear about 12" long near the spine. He appliqued a new panel over the top and cut the old one away apart from the last cm or so.

Might be worth replacing both red centre panels with a single one. Depends on whether you remove the nose / tail / trailing edge reinforcement, or keep a bit of the old sail in those places and applique as close as you can to them.
