It's been a while, my carbon crumbles and the icky sags a bit. Is aerostuff still a thing?
If it were possible I'd buy a fresh Nirvana but sadly it is not. So with that said...Is there anything out there worth looking at?

Hey Rob hope you're well, people are raving about the Canvas kite company.

Hi Pete,
Interesting, I've not heard of them but the Crux is a contender. I also saw a couple of Debray kites that could work, the smaller of the two probably the favourite. Any thoughts on Wind-R?
I guess the first thing to do is get the old kite bag out and see if anything is air worthy...like riding a bike no?

I've got 3 of the Canvas Kite Designs (CKD) models.
A Spur, a Crux and an Intention. All 3 are in STD spec. Absolutely beautiful kites with some lovely attention to detail. Build quality comparable to a Benson and all fly beautifully. The Spur being the smallest and fastest of the bunch is my favourite but the intention re-writes the definition of the word "Smooth". Its super refined and an absolute pleasure to fly. Doesn't give up its tricks easily and requires a pilot to know what they're doing but its incredibly rewarding when you get it right.
If anyone is local to Essex, you're more than welcome to try one.

I didn't look at the Spur, that would be more like it.
While finesse and elegance are practically my middle names, I prefer to bully the shit out of the smaller kites.

In that case you'd love it. Probably one of, if not THE most fun dual liners i own.

Hey Rob, long time, hope all's good with you?
Those Canvas kites look nice for sure
The Spur looks to be very similar to the Benson SuperFly, no idea if it fly's similarly though

Since you were last around times have changed considerably with the demise of many brands, kites have become very much a cottage industry (again), most of the cutting edge stuff have come from open-source designs, a good place to start is with Carlo's youtube site to see the kites in action @
https://www.youtube.com/@kareloh then onto his open source plans site @
https://www.kareloh.com/kite-plans/ pick a design/characteristics you like then get someone to build it for you!
Or just buy a Superfly

I forget whether or not I tried the Superfly, named after Doug I believe.
My NFX appears to be in pretty good shape so might give that a go at the weekend...perhaps the compulsion will pass. I already have a spur on order though, Purley fly-in June?

Another "new" brand which is putting out great designs is Mugen Kites
https://mugenkites.com/I'm reliably informed these kites are *impeccably* sewn ... you get what you pay for.
Lots of video on YouTube / Facebook - the designer is top freestyle flier, these kites are all very capable.

I think I'd heard of them, never seen one. I'd love to try the Ultim by Debray...might be another blind purchase.
Such a shame it's fizzled out. I do a bit of photography and am amazed how film is coming back, maybe kites will have a resurgence too.
