This is the trick I'm having trouble with at the moment
Fade all good - but can't figure how to do the spins on the SF
I suspect it needs A LOT of slack so that it spins rather than do a lat roll?

Clearly this isn't your experience though
When you say lat roll, do you mean half a backspin and it comes back into upwards flight? If so, it's probably a slack problem.
Input wing a little dipped / further away before first rotation?
Full slack with non-input hand? (It shouldn't touch the kite at all - you can drop the non-input strap and backspin indefinitely.)
Fairly soft, short input?
Stroll/lope/run forward, wind dependent?
For a 2.1m kite, the SF demands quite a lot of slack. Try more slack / be more gentle.
Good luck.

Notice how the flyer lets the popping wing drop a touch before starting the rotation (at 10 seconds), then walks forward (he is in fairly low wind there).
That example of a BS keeps altitude nicely - doing the same with a multilazy requires precision timing (and low wind).
