Its a water bottle probably to add more weight in stronger winds.

I was advised to buy it as it makes life really easy on launch, it came from mr long duong as well

Actually, if I were going to make a launcher of my own for the URO (and I just might), I'd fit a small spacer of some sort at the end where it pinches the end of the centre spar. And I'd use webbing instead of metal hinges between the two main bits.
And I think I'd use heavily waxed hardwood instead of deal.
Mark, is there any sign of a copyright or patent mark on that launcher thingy?

Thanks for offering, Mark, but the pictures you've already posted are quite enough for my needs.
The measurements are bound to be kite-specific. It's the principle of the device that I'll be borrowing, and it might take a bit of trial & error to get the angle of attack right.
When I do get round to making one, I'll post pics of my own.

Well today we had some wind and took the tiger II out for its first flight...
We think the wind was not quite enough (15-20 max) and it was a struggle to launch. But eventually she flew and WOW!!!!!
Nice fast tight turns and lots of speed and power, oh yeah and noise and attention
The window was extremely narrow and any sudden change of wind would make it just stall with a small chance if any of recovery.
I'm extremely happy with this kite and now need to beg for more wind and I have to practice my launch.
I will say a massive thanks to tim as I would have struggled like hell to launch it without him.

anyway a small vid... Please excuse my crappy iphone vid and it was also a sod to track

Thanks Marc. This kite was a bugger to launch and really unstable till it gained the centre of the window then it goes like stink,as Marc says a drop off or hole in the wind and instant de-power, as found me on my ass!! A great time was had by us. Thanks for the fly.
