axel on left side

Tue Jun 07, 2011 5:49 pm

I can easily axel kite on right side, but have big problem on other side, my line always get tangled around left wing tip, im flying on hill and wind is usually from top of the hill down towards right side (thats mean i got nice gentle wind from center of WW to right side, and strong from left side to center).

any suggestions???

Not a specific suggestion, but it took me quite some time to be able to axel on both sides. I just couldn't get it to work on my right side (I'm left-handed), until I really focused on what I was doing on the left side, and consciously tried to mirror that on the right side. Not long afterwards, it 'clicked' and soon after that I couldn't understand why I couldn't do it earlier, as it felt so natural ...

My wife had exactly the same, but then reversed (she's right-handed, could axel on her right side long before her left side).

As the others have said, you need more slack. I had exactly the same problem, in the end I spent a couple of sessions doing nothing but right and then left axels until I could do both sides.

Hi Pink!
I expect you've had a look at some tutorials but give this one a quick shufti too.

I have found flying the kite out and up towards the edge of the window on one side, then turning up and stepping towards the kite - to stall the wing tip on the outer edge of the window, just before popping he stalling wing was the way to learn.
Hope this helps,
Jules

Surely you can't be serious! Not really, although I have only seen that Russel Crow flick and Ben Hur.

But I have been to a Turkish prison, and I have seen a grown man naked.
