convergent design, like evolution, is not unusual. Especially as no kite designer works in vacuum. It'll take a special designer to come up with something truly different.

I know Günter Weigand, the designer of the genesis personally and he told me about his development of the kite, definitely no outward influences there.
I dont know Ken Mcneal, but I can seriously not imagine him copying anything.
What's more: These two kites fly seriously different!

You can make your neighbours think that you have fluorescent lights in all the rooms in your house by quickly turning the lights on and off several times before leaving them on.

Yeah - I don't think there is anything in this at all. The Vendetta flies
nothing like the Opera - it is far more comp. oriented and heavier on
the lines. I'd wager is had proportionally more sail material too.

I've not really flown a Mantis ... but I've no doubt that its much more
precise than a Genesis ... all Ken's kites are very solid in that regard.

I don't doubt that the Opera is competition capable ... just strikes me as a
touch more freestyle than comp. oriented.

The Opera is a very fine kite and yet nothing like the Vendetta.
