Yet another f**king dog attack!

This used to be an Exile UL.
Two blokes the size of houses with two boxer/bull terrier crosses one on a harness, one not. I was trying to keep the UL in the air in about 1mph wind with the dog chasing it. I shouted to the bloke 'if I land it will the dog attack it'. He says 'no'. I land and you've seen the results. The bloke refused to pay, in fact I thought he was going to start a fight - and he really was big, think nightclub bouncer on steroids. This happened less than 20 minutes ago and I'm still shaking!

I'd file a Police report and say I was/felt threatened/intimidated.

I suppose the police will do bugger all even if you managed to trace them.
I won't fly on my local park after 12:00 any more for fear of this, just too many yobs with dogs.

You're right of course ...
But the dogs might do more damage / harm yet / next.
Supposing they go for a child's kite / ball ....
Since I've started flying kites ... and especially since Georgie came along ... I've really grown to hate dogs.

Yeah, and the worst part is this has nothing to do with dogs. It is all about IDIOTS with dogs. The dog was having fun while you flew above him. The dog doesn't know better, and shouldn't be expected to. The human is your problem, and a very difficult one at that.
I am SO sorry for you, and that's worth jack $quat.
But, I regularly use value as the threat. I wonder if you had said, 'It's a 400 euro kite...you got insurance?', what he would have said afterward. I also regularly get aggressive first. 'Sorry, but you better keep your dog away from my kite, or you'll owe me 400 euros' works well for me.
Still, this SUCKS!!!!!!!!!

The tack I use nowadays is, "If your dog bites the kite and gets carbon splinters, they don't show up under X-ray and will cost you £hundreds in vets fees when they become infected."
I now regularly fly up at Godshill cricket ground -- the square is fenced off. If, as happens occasionally, some imbecile fails to control its animal, I land in the square until they move on.

I don't know what the laws are in the UK, but if its allowed, I'd consider putting a "Tazer" in my kite bag. They work on unruly dogs, and blokes on steroids too.
Sorry for the loss of a lovely kite.

Eh ? I wasn't downplaying your situation or loss mate ... not at all.
What I meant to say - a child might end up injured by said unruly bull terriers.

F**k me, what a bummer, I'm really sorry to see that Roy
I bet this happened at Clapham Common, I know it's close to where you live Roy but there are to many scum-bags that use the common for it to be anything other than a last resort place to fly IMO. I have a couple of parks near me but I wouldn't want to fly on them because of the dogs/owners. For me it's worth the drive to Epsom to get 95% trouble free flying.

Yes, it was on Clapham Common, but I've had dogs go for kites at Blackheath, Parliament Hill, a couple of kite festivals and even on my favourite beach in Cornwall. And I've seen it happen at Epsom, although luckily not to me.
The way it's getting with dogs now I think it should be illegal for them to be let off the lead. I wonder how you start a campaign.

I had some idiot actively encouraging his monster of a dog to chase my kite yesterday. Luckily for me the dog didn't want to do anything about it.
Dog owners like this are impossible to deal with, I wish there was an answer.
Sympathy Roy, and congrats for getting out of there intact yourself, after all it's only a material possession, all be it a beautiful one (or at least it was).
