Some Changes

Tue Sep 27, 2016 4:10 pm

In addition to a new upcoming facelift, wherein I'll fix the banner and try a new responsive theme, (maybe/probably Canvas <<-preview link as suggested by Roy), I am thinking of tidying up some of our sections at the same time.

1) Roll Fly-meet discussions into Events and Announcements. There's little real difference between the two, and some events blur the line and make it difficult to know where to post.

2) Roll Quad-line tricks into Dual-line tricks and just make it Tricks and Techniques.

3) Lose the Library section. It's dead Jim.

4) Lose Links section and migrate them as a single Sticky post in Chat.

5) Definitely lose the Wiki forum Section, and possibly the Wiki in general. Is it really used much? It's not been updated in a loooong time.

6) I was just going to say roll VF into Competition, but it looks like it might just be on the verge of resurrection, so I'll leave that one for now.

Any comments?

I'd prefer Quad and Dual to remain separate, but the others look sensible moves.

Fair enough. TBH I hadn't really noticed the QL stuff was so active.

I've used the wiki some, be a shame to see it go. At least the trick definitions.
Thank you kindly,
Iftah.

I'd just delete the quad section altogether :P

The wiki's no longer relevant ... but if somebody is going to maintain and refresh it ... step up and do it.

The Canvas theme is now selectable in your User Control Panel under Board Preferences. I've not yet settled on the theme colours etc, and obviously I haven't set up the logo etc.

The Tapatalk install looks completely busted ATM, even the admin control panel isn't working. I'll endeavour to get it back up and running soon.

On the canvas theme, is there a way of going to the first new post?  Clicking on the thread link seems to take you to the first post in the thread.

From the home page click on this icon Image next to the forum title to see unread posts in a particular forum.

That's what I thought, however clicking on the Image icon doesn't do anything (or at least I don't believe it does).  I've now read the only unread post so will have to wait a bit to confirm.  :?

What Roy said works for me.

Additionally from the front page you can click the subject in the last column for a link to the very last post in that section, or from the individual board you can click on the relative timestamp (eg 'an hour ago') to get to the last post that way.

Aaaahhh!!  It depends how you get there.  If I go via the front page and click on a section with new threads in it, then use the Image icon it works.

However, if you use the new posts or unread posts option on the top menu, the Image icon isn't enabled.

Not going mad.  Just approaching it from a different angle (bookmark set to show new posts).
