First fly in years yesterday

Wed Jun 25, 2014 10:39 pm

Managed to get to the beach yesterday for a lumpy offshore session with my Gemini.

Definitely out of practice in a big way. Just about getting my 540s most times. My fade is gone and the 6 backspins were pure fluke!

Need to rebuild my Outer Space and get my fades back I think. Am I right in thinking Hi Mod is not available anymore? I need 2 new leading edges for the OS.

Looking forward to a light day with my Utopia. Always loved that oddball.

Hi-mod disappeared years ago. In fact it's now pretty hard to get hold of structil any more and Tim has now replaced structil with P200 in his older kites.

I suggest you contact him via email to see what he recommends. I'm fairly certain he can sell you some Excel 6mm if you just want to replace the structil with a 6mm alternative, but he may suggest moving to P200 anyway.

We used to stock 5 and 6mm Structil, all our stock went to Hengistkites, call Graham I'm sure he can sort you out.

Thoughy you'd sold out of 6mm before you shut the shop.

When I bought my early version gemini in '07 one of it's previous owners had replaced both (probably broken) lower leading edges with what I later identified as P200.
I repaired the upper leading edges with Structil simply because it was cheaper.
