Tail weights - help

Sun Mar 30, 2014 9:59 pm

I've flown kites for years but only really started attempting tricks this year, although I did have a brief attempt when I first got the Sin.

I've never had a tail weight and was wondering when you use them and how do they aid your flying? And what different weights do what?

Sorry if this is a proper newbie question

Tail weights are fitted to the end of the spine to alter the balance of the kite. They mostly help with pitch tricks - yoyo's etc - but a lot of kite use them as part of the overall design of the kite. Usually 10-15grms is the norm but it varies from model to model.

Does it assist with the basic axel, stall etc?
I've seen somewhere that it makes tricks easier/able to do in higher winds? Any truth in this?
