Crantock 2013

Tue Feb 26, 2013 6:16 pm

For those of you not on Facebook, a certain Mrs B is suggesting the weekend of June 22nd/23rd for Crantock 2013.

Anyone remotely interested? ;)

Less than two weeks to go and the long range weather forecast is looking pretty good at the moment.

The Bakardi man and I are intending to make a guest appearance subject to weather, house moves or other unforeseen circumstances.

Who else is going?

The response to this thread suggests it may be a smaller than normal crew this year.

If anybody is still unsure about going, please make the effort to attend. This really is one of the 'must do' kiting events of the year and every one is welcome.

Don't be put off by thinking you are not good enough (as I once was!).

See you there.

Umm, maybe, just maybe, we will be there. Sue doesn't camp so any b&b recommendations? Appreciate may be a bit late!

I'm afraid the weather has got the better of us and with the current forcast being 20-35+ mph winds over Saturday and Sunday, Mike and I have reluctantly made the decision not to travel down.

We'll keep our fingers crossed for those of you do go that there is a last minute change to the weather system and you do get some decent flying in.

:( We've got ourselves into a B&B and need the break so will head down anyway. I'll take the flexis for a bit of kite dragging if the wind blows as forecast. Or we'll just head for some walks if others stay away. Please let us know where to meet if others do go, not done this before. Thx.

Here's a view of Crantock Village & Beach showing roughly where people congregate:

if that's not enough info, post here and I'll see what I can do.
Is the B&B you're staying in in Crantock or Newquay?
I can give directions if you post where it is.

Never really a chance that I would manage to get that far for a weekend but I am planning to try my luck at Beacon tomorrow. Met forecast thinks Sunday will be a windy washout but suggests some gaps in the rain for tomorrow - oops, today. As I unaccountably seem to still be drinking Belgian beer (better the Duvel you know...) I may miss the best of that too.

@ Steve, Cue picture of a man being dragged across the beach by a kite.

@Stuart, Did you make Beacon or did the Belgian beer win out? ;) Didn't bother for the same reasons as Crantock. Too much wind to justify even an hour's journey. :(
