Southampton Kite Festival

Mon Feb 25, 2013 6:51 pm

Southampton Kite Festival is back on the agenda again, June 15-16. For a long time, it looked like last year was the last, but some life has been breathed into it again, as least for one more year.

Festival of two extremes: blustery wind, over 30mph at times, on Saturday; light winds, up to 8mph on Sunday. Bit of rain/drizzle at times, but not too bad. Will put a few photos up in a picasa album soon (didn't take many, as was too busy flying, crewing, or otherwise keeping the festival running), and a blog post will also follow shortly.

BIG public thank-you to STACK, and in particular Keith, Vee, Barry, Fran, Tony and Alex for coming down and flying their various routines, lead the mega-fly, provide an introduction to dual-line flying, etc.

=D>

Our pleasure, though I think I might have preferred to be there today rather than yesterday

It's a Skydancer - not sure if they're still in production any more.
Here are a couple of links to more info:

Skydancers were designed and made by David Davies in the UK. When he passed away, the licence to make them went to Con Engels (Windstar Kites) in the US. As far as I'm aware, he is still making them.

Fun quad to fly, especially with tails. Very different from a Rev. Tim and Roger did a great job flying an improvised routine with a pair of them to music
