Expand the Wiki - Flying Location ?

Wed Sep 13, 2006 5:14 pm

Not really seen a good list of flying sites with reviews, good/bad points etc.

Arranged something like:
County
--Major Town
----Sites

e.g:
Sussex
--Brighton
----Stamner Park
----Beach
----Waterhall
----Field near race track ( horse not dog! )

The sections foreach site could be:
Pros / Cons
Suitable for Type of Flying ( power/buggy or precision/trick )
Car Park.
Link to streetmap.co.uk
Link to nears weather stations website. ( hate driving for 30mins to find no wind! )
e.g: http://www.shorehamweather.info/

Reason for suggestion, save google time. ie I'm in Poole for a few days next week working and would like to fly in the evenings (weather permitting) so it took a while to round up possible places etc from different sites etc.

There's a couple of Google Earth .kmz files with UK kite spots linked to on this thread:

I saw the poole kite fliers site, but I thought a wiki format would be better.

I like the google earth point, very helpful of finding places.

Just got myself a satnav - any recommendations for flying site Point Of Interest (POI) files?

I'm checking out Google but haven't found anything specific to the UK yet (and France would be useful too).

Cheers. Off topic here so I'll say no more and will post any further queries to the old thread in FA Chat.
