Well, if you didnt like it you could have spoken up earlier? (edit: not meant to be inflammatory, not sure of a better way of phrasing my thought). I edited your ( infinitive al) articles because they included lots of quotes, metaphors and things that weren't providing information, but entertainment. From earlier discussions I took away that we were not going with that...

Should we be providing information, or entertainment literature? Or both?

If keeping that sort of stream of consciousness style, id be more than happy to do that as I much prefer that style of writing, but as a center for information I felt that would be confusing for a lot of people, particularly those from different cultures.

Also, if you dislike something you can rollback and make changes as needed. If you liked information added by disliked the style, just rollback to your old article and add the information. Same goes for the opposite situation.

I think this sounds very productive, the rolling back stuff. It certainly would seem to solve any immediate disagreements.

I am more than willing to be a non-bias reader/editor as well. I have some experience writing/editing for other purposes, for many audiences. I think I can contribute usefully.

Did I ever pick a good time to go on holiday!

This "idiot ignorant prick American" ;) hopes this flare up doesn't further drive a wedge between the FA and GWTW forums. I really hate to see this become an us vs. them kind of thing.

I was hoping to see DocOne devote his energies to how-to's, tips and photos and framing info on older out of circulation kites. I think that the trick stuff would be best left over here as you already have the sound foundation of the info from Peter's site.

@Gary - please resend that email, I may have missed it in the virtual stack of email that was waiting upon my return.

"GWTW is so ultra conservative these days it makes me want to put a gun to my head. " JW, when you decide to pull that trigger any chance we can get that on YouTube?

Ahem....
Err.....
Well......

{deep breath}

I want a kiting wiki.

More specifically I want one exactly like this one for yo-yosonly for kites.

The internet would be a far, far better place if it all was as neatly arranged as this. Seriously it's all you could reasonably want.

Now bearing in mind that the yo-yo community has always had a tech-savvy contigent I don't think it's sane to expect a kiting wiki to be quite as complete quite so quickly but it's an excellent example of what a largely under-the-radar hobby can do for itself.

And I suppose that following the whole wiki ethos.... this means.... I might have to do some work myself.

DAMN !

Mike.

One suggestion for this fantastic project: how about listing mistakes commonly made by beginners when performing the trick, and what can be done to overcome them?

Maybe that's a job for me, most of my attempts still result in failure!

Has the Tricki Wiki idea died or is it still possible to add new material. As I believe it is a great idea and would be an opportunity missed to let it die.
