VF17... pleaaaaaaaaaase !

Thu Oct 21, 2010 12:24 pm

Hi everyone,

I'm a french pilot, usually chating on the French CVS forum. Some french pilots are ok to make a Virtual Freestyle.

For the moment, we are talking about a typical Frenchie-Frenchie format, but, if it's opened... why can't anyone use it ? So, maybe we could make an official one...

I heard that there is no round until next spring, can we make one from France ?

In this purpose, can we create a copy of the website, with rules translated into french, and use an email adress like virtualfreestylefr@gmail.com ?

In this case, rules will be exactly the same..., making it an official VF

Why not help out by translating the existing VF? It'd save it (as an entity) getting too fragmented and losing it's identity. Aside from the language 'translations' I'd be anxious that VF didn't lose it's global appeal by becoming regional with discrete comps per country.

Just my thoughts - but hey, I'm basically just a lurker these days :D

Nope, I hadn't fallen off the map. Although one would be excused for thinking so...

Yes, that's my thoughts too... but maybe my English isn't good enough...

French pilots are talking about making VF, so I try to focus them on the "official" one. But there are at least two problems :

- A lot of french people doesn't speak english really well

- They are afraid of making something beside to Davide Equizzi, Bryan Beasley, etc... not the same level... but, as i watched a lot of videos, I know that there are beginners too (no, I won't give the names :D)

In the other hand... we provide you newbies... but, there are talkings about french "legendary" pilots participating... ;)

As the outgoing, temporary organiser of VF please don't create another version of the event. [-o< Other people have run their own (Prism, Hungary...) and, while I'm sure they had fun, it has lead to problems, not least with these people trying to enter Virtual Freestlye™ and finding it not quite as their one was. One format, one way, no misunderstanding. It's a friendly competition so there's no need to go and play by yourselves.

VF has always been a collaborative effort so getting a translation shouldn't be impossible between all of us.

There is not, nor has there ever been a standard of entry. No-one should ever claim they are not good enough to enter. Whenever we have a great prize to give away, it has always been available to all and not just the winner. Enzo Serra has won a kite, I don't recall Piero doing so :-)

I expect another round of VF this year

Thanks Gui - look forward to making VF as accessible as it can be. And don't worry about any prescribed level of entry, my flying in the inaugural VF was (to be kind) awful, but didn't preclude me from taking part. The VF organisational reigns have been passed on... Watch this space (or the one beside it) for more details!
