UK Tricks Party Event 2010

Fri Feb 05, 2010 1:57 pm

All,

I am pleased to announce that STACK UK will be running a Tricks Party only competition in 2010.

It will take place at Roy Broadley's Jolly-Up, 31st July/ 1st August.

This is a full TP event, with none of that pesky precision stuff.

There will be a considerable outlay for this (PA primarily) so I need to know that there will be a reasonable turnout. You don't have to commit now, but some idea of numbers would be good

Cost will be £5 for STACK members in possession of a competition license, £10 for all others PLUS on the day fees of
£10 for individual, £6 each for pair, £3 each for team.

Change to the charges: £15 flat fee for entry. any number of classes (ie indi, pair, team). Free entry to non-UK fliers.

As this is a private event, not a public festival, I will not insist on public liability insurance, although Roy may. However you know it makes sense anyway don't you?

I was wondering if it would be fitting to make this the "Steve Brill" Cup. Steve was a great advocate of Tricks Party competitions and also represented Great Britain at the Freestyle World Cup a few years back. I personally think it would be a fitting way to let his name live on in our sport.

Dave,

Steve's wish before he died was to sponsor a trophy for STACK, and I had already decided there would be one in his name as well.

However, we have decided to replace the DI shield, it is full anyway.

Thanks for the thoughts on this, you are far from the first to suggest it, it's good to know so many have seen Steve as a major part of STACK.

Steve would be really thrilled about the DI cup :-)

Now, where's the button that says I'm going to drag my kids along to this competition thing? :-D

('cos if I clicked the Yes I'm going to compete thing, you'd all be sitting here scratching your heads in confusion)

OK, starting to make progress on this now - registration forms and competitors packs will be available very soon... send an e-mail to bryan.beasley @ btinternet.com (take out the spaces) and you'll be on the list and I'll send the info and forms ASAP.

In the mean time, the main details are...

Event - 31st July, 1st August.
Open to Individual, pair and teams and novice individuals.
Registrations and ballets forms - 14th July latest - the earlier the better though to best gauge numbers, timings etc.
Costs are as Keith detailed at the start of the thread - we don't want to make money at this though, just cover the costs of the PA and stuff - if we can reduce the costs through plenty of people taking part or sponsorship / donations of some sort, we will. Overseas competitors take part free of charge.

There is an option to take part as a novice if you're NOOB type, or not really confident enough to jump straight in, but really the best way to join in, is to join in.

There will be 2 rounds - Saturday and Sunday with placings for each day, and a UK championship winner for best overall performance over the weekend. So if you can only make 1 day, 's still worth taking part.

Imposed tricks will be chosen from the following list...

• 2 point landing
• Spike
• Cascade
• Comete
• Fade
• Flic-Flac
• Rolling Susan
• Rolling Cascade
• Slot Machine
• Crazy Copter

Novice option – 2 Point Landing, Axel, 540, Side Slide

I'll make the trick difinitions and scoring criteria available ASAP, but they're essentially the same as all of the other TP's (US, DE etc.)

A ballet can contain up to 9 scored tricks and can last up to 3 minutes (4 minutes for pair and teams)

Novice ballets can last up to 3 minutes and contain at least one of each 2 Point Landing, Axel, 540 and Side Slide. These ballets will be scored out of 20 for content and 20 for choreography - not scored by individual trick.

Any questions just shout - to register send me an E-mail.

Update

Tricks Party competition pack is now fully online (available here)

The registration forms are there as well.

At this point we are still working on running a std TP event but based on the experience of Cerf-volant Mania we may need to alter that.

Just to update - we're still TP ing at this point on the grounds that I've not heard back from Roger. Unless there's a big revolt - in which case we'll do someting else. ;-)

Up to now, we have 2 registered competitors. Get your fingers out and show some support. ;-)
