2009 Rokkaku Chalenge

Mon May 11, 2009 2:19 pm

OK folks, with Swindon done there has been four rounds, but I have not received the scores from Weymouth, so this is distinctly provisional as I hear Dave Johnson won that as well... but I'm pleased to see two Stack flyers are chasing hard - so this could change at Rougham!!!

so, present known positions are:-

1st Dave Johnson with 14 points
Equal 2nd are Vee Griffiths and Mick Burls on 12 points
and on equal 4th come Mike Stevens & Martin Croxton on 8 points

all I'll say about the "also runs" is that Andy Taylor needs some practice.....
never mind mate, plenty of time to pass me!

More news after Rougham.

Funnily enough I went to a meeting of my kite club (not actually MY club you understand) last night and they have just been asked to hold a round of this 'Rokakku Challenge'. However, nobody really seemed to have a clue what it was about or what was involved...or, in fact, pretty much anything to do with it.

Could someone kindly explain the whole thing to me?

Thanks, Mark.

Mark,

Is this for the 1st August festival?

In which case I can run it for you, I am expecting to be there with the AirHeads.

In the meantime, STACK's recommended rules are here.

Keith, I will have to check on the date (I was really there to discuss the new T-shirt design I've done for them).

However, I'm sure your kind offer would be welcomed enthusiastically as there were many bemused faces amongst the, predominantly power kite flying, committee members.

I'd better see if I can fix the STACK Roks so they can all have a go then.

Dave, stop hijacking the thread

All sorted (I did it about a year ago) - first ones of the new design will be printed soon (I think you will like it)

Sorry Keith - but he did ask - it's all Daves fault.

P.S. Actualy I do remember the 'Airheads' being mentioned at the meeting so it must be the 1st Aug - excellent :)

Thats one event organised, thats guys.
if you ae going to any other events then look out for a round, most festivals have now been asked to run one. Not all are accepting, but if we show willing then there's more of a chance it'll happen, if not this year then next.

expected festivals, some not yet confirmed:
Rougham
Basingstoke
Blackheath
Southampton
Sunderland
Leominster
Shrewsbury
Portsmouth
Bristol
Margate for the Grand Finale.

Not according to Simon Williams of the council it isn't, It's only the one day, 1st August. That's all the AirHeads will be there for.

Quick update with unofficial results (I've got to identify someone from Leominster!)
Mick Burls is holding his place at the top at this time, but there's a new pretender been shooting up the chart in the shape of Peter Tayor at second!
I'm delighted to see the girls are holding their own with Vee giving a very nice third place, just one point above Dave Johnson though.
equal fifth goes to Mike Stevens and Bob Cruckshank.
Me, struggling along at equal 11th, not too bad for 2 rounds, seeing as there are some 30 entrants on the lists.
There is still some 4 more events to go - Shrewsbury, Portsmouth, Bristol and Margate, also a possable for Sheffield, so plenty of time for things to change.
